CONCEPT

Fascinated by the history of Bunshodo bookstore that once took up this same plot of land, we created BUNSHODO HOTEL to not just be a hotel and cafe but an archive as well.

Taking on the inherited role of a bookstore to build a community connected by books, we combined it with the thing that is "hotel" to create an experience that can be explored deeper than your average bookstore visit.

Here you can enjoy a variety of literary experiences, such as our "Stay in a Book" plan where you can borrow a set of books currated by local bookstore owners, meeting people through books via our book donation cards as well as spending time talking about books via our events.

Books and people. A "third place" in everyday life.

We hope BUNSHODO HOTEL may become your best and most treasured "third place."

HOTEL

With our theme of "archive" in mind, we created BUNSHODO HOTEL with materials that age beautifully over time.

With the beautiful concrete visuals of Fukuoka City Art Museum (Architect: Kunio Maekawa), the city's cultural epicenter, mimicked in the architecture, paperback-sized tiles baked one by one, and the classical colors used in the interiors, we have created what we hope will be a structure to be admired for many years to come.

But ageless beauty doesn't preclude technology, and we have integrated the digital into our hotel with check-in tablets and smart locks, allowing us to streamline the check-in process to allow more time for the important things like great customer service and comfort.
